Description:
The Scottish artist Denis Frederic Neil Peploe came to Cyprus in 1951 after having been through a heavy attack of TB. Son of an artist, he developed his own style through structural design and rich surfaces. Often, Peploe combines landscape views with still life. The view is of the left hand side of the harbour of Kyrenia emphasizing the church of Archangel Michael. The blue colour combined with variations of pink and red create a vivid atmosphere and attribute modernity to what was a quiet fishing harbour.
