Description:
The poster ‘Our Allies the Colonies’ is of the series of the British Colonial Empire. It portrays a young soldier of the Cyprus Regiment. Dark skinned with dark hair neatly styled beneath his Forage Cap, large almond shaped brown eyes and a slight moustache. He gazes somewhat awkwardly into the distance. The poster demonstrated that the empire was multi-national and multi-racial and was also designed to stimulate pride in the members of the extended imperial family. The soldier belongs to the Cyprus Regiment and is framed by the names of all counties belonging to the empire except India which was an empire (under British rule)
