Did you know? Rivulet of the Queen

West of the village of Akapnou, near the Vasilikos River and close to the village of Eptagonia, stands a small stone-built chapel with a sloping tiled roof. Its interior is adorned with beautiful frescoes.

According to local legend, this area was once associated with the goddess Aphrodite and the queen of Cyprus. It is said that the queen, while trying to escape her pursuers, attempted to leap over a small stream on horseback. Her horse stumbled, throwing her off, and she died from the fall. The stream is known today as the “Rivulet of the Queen.”
