Description:

The painting invites the viewer down a dirt lane, shaded by trees, towards a village by the sea. It appears isolated and quiet stretching from the top of the hill down to the seashore. Cypress trees are to be found all over Cyprus to the point where often travellers attributed the name of the island to the trees. Olive groves as well can be found everywhere, traditionally planted in the gardens and surroundings of villages, providing their owners with their annual needs of both olives and oil. The painting enjoys the bright blue of the Cypriot sky mixed with the tranquil hazy atmosphere of summer
