Description:
A London artist and painter, president of the New English Art Club, Howard was the official war artist to Northern Ireland 1973-80. He then travelled to various countries including Cyprus. He paints mainly portraits, landscapes and studio paintings of views. During his stay in Cyprus, he made a number of portraits of his colleagues in the Army. The sitter in the watercolour was probably a polo player of the British team at the Akrotiri Base in Cyprus.
