Spring Break Activities 2026: The Good Old Mill

In the educational programme “The Good Old Mill,” children discover that the CVAR Museum building is not just an exhibition space, but was once a flour mill. We observe its architecture and identify features that reveal its former use. Together, we locate these elements, connecting the building’s past with the history of bread.

Through the Museum’s collection, we explore paintings depicting plains, wheat ears, and grains, and learn about the importance of bread in the life and tradition of Cyprus.

During the guided tour, children learn about grain cultivation, the role of farmers, the operation of mills, and the entire process that leads from wheat to bread, as well as its significance in Cypriot society and tradition.

The programme concludes with a hands-on activity: children create their own dough. Using dough, they shape breads, form patterns, and make oven-baked creations inspired by what they have discovered during the programme.

Come and discover the good old mill and bring tradition to life through art, knowledge, and creativity.
