What am I looking at: Victorian centre table

A wooden, Victorian-era centre table of carved Cyprus walnut with a marble surface and a side drawer. One of the first examples of Cypriot arts and crafts, imitating Victorian furniture. The Cyprus walnut was of inferior quality, as was the carving. The marble used was local marble more commonly known as tzioni, and was not so strong. The carvings gradually replaced the rosettes with vine leaves and grape branches more reminiscent of local designs.
