Description:

An atmospheric watercolour of a church enclosed within a stone wall. The dramatic colour of the sky suggests the sun is either just rising or has just set. Near the gate in the wall the figure of a priest can be identified. In the foreground on the left can be seen an earthen oven along with the ruins of a structure from antiquity, the decorative stone carvings just discernible in the dim light
