Field Marshall Garnet Joseph Wolseley, 1st Viscount Wolseley was an Anglo-Irish officer in the British Army. He served in the Anglo-Burmese war, the Crimea, Canada and in 1873 he commanded the expedition to Ashanti. In 1878, he became first High Commissioner of Cyprus (July-December) and then moved to Southern Africa. Wolseley barracks at London Ontario bear his name in his honour
