Hínís

Larsen, Joan (1941-2021)

Date:

1964

Places:

[s.l.]

Inscriptions:

Inscribed on back: Hínís

Description:

The work of art is largely abstract and in the cubist manner. Black lines on a white background create spaces within a rectangle that, while dividing the space visually, fail to completely separate each space from each other. The municipality of Hínís in Türkiye is divided by a road that follows a very similar line to that running through the main rectangle. Perhaps it could be ventured that, like Larsen's depiction of Famagusta, this is an abstracted version of the town of Hínís with its central street through the middle
