Description:
The Sinclair was ADC to Dir Garnet Wolseley in 1878 and remained in Cyprus for some years. He was an amateur painter who made a series of watercolours of Cyprus, sold with the contents of his family home Lady Place in Sutton Courtenay in 1990. Being a prolific amateur artist, the flora of Cyprus did not escape Hugh Sinclair’s attention. This watercolour is of the humble Lantana flower which is found all over the island in purple, red, white and yellow colours. The watercolour seems to be unfinished
