Description:
Hambis Tsangaris studied under the Greek printer Tassos and then at the Institute of Graphic Arts of Surikov in Moscow. From 1987 to 2008 he taught graphic arts in Cyprus. Since 2007 he runs the school and museum of print making in Platanistia village. This print is part of a series made by the artist in 1979, called ‘our homes’. It was his expression of sorrow and loss when remembering the homes lost during the Turkish invasion. Barbed wire separates displaced persons from their ancestral homes. Figures with outstretched arms appear in anguish while staring at their property. The series is executed in the Russian expressionist style
