Doors and Faces of Cyprus by Veysi Soyer
Doors. We pass by them every day. Sometimes we might stop and look, admire their craft and their beauty, wonder what might lie behind them. Or, most often, we ignore them, thinking they are a mundane, everyday object, unworthy of a second look.
Veysi Soyer, a Turkish-Cypriot award-winning photographer, thought more of them. For years, he has been photographing, recording doors in almost every corner of Cyprus. But doors tell a different story when there’s human presence. Some are open, inviting; some are closed, some abandoned. All of them tell the story of Cyprus.
We welcome you to a journey into the past, a tale told by doors and faces, frozen in time but never lost; forever looking at the lens, the photographer, the viewer. Enjoy.
